The FIDEM Charity Foundation is a non-profit organisation providing support and empowerment opportunities to vulnerable people across Malta and Gozo. Our guiding principles are empathy and compassion.
What FIDEM does
Since its inception in 2018, FIDEM has supported vulnerable women, adolescent girls and children with life-changing access to vocational and educational opportunities, arts and culture and wellbeing guidance. Our goal is to empower our participants with the opportunities they need to increase their confidence and to achieve positive and lasting change in their lives.
Why FIDEM set up We Connect
FIDEM rapidly began operating a "Hear to Help" Helpline for wellbeing and legal concerns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with our ethos of supporting vulnerable people. The helpline is available on +356 9932 0977 on Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. We soon learned one of the most frequent wellbeing concerns of our callers was loneliness, particularly amongst older people. We therefore decided to set up We Connect as an innovative, multi-dimensional community designed to support the emotional and mental wellbeing of our members.
What FIDEM aims to achieve through We Connect
The We Connect project will run throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. We want to ensure that our community members have a safe, positive space where they can prioritise their emotional and mental wellbeing and find happiness in every day. Our ultimate goal is for We Connect to significantly help to turn the tide on the ongoing widespread issue of loneliness in our society.
Please help FIDEM to keep growing We Connect so we can reach more people who need wellbeing support.
